After a year plus hiatus, Fibber returns to a brand new venue with a spiffy new format on Thursday, August 20th at PhilaMOCA. Presented by Five Dollar Comedy and hosted by Hillary Rea, Fibber features four storytellers — three are telling the truth and one has made it all up. After all of the stories are shared, it is up to the audience to figure out who is lying their face off. This month’s show features NYC storyteller and writer, Mara Wilson, Philadelphia storytelling favorites Kitty Hailey and Zeeshan Nayeemuddin, and stand-up comedian Darryl Charles. Opening the show with a stand-up set is Jon DelCollo. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance here.
Tell Me A Story returns for its only show of the Summer, this Wednesday, July 15th at Shot Tower Coffee. Join host Hillary Rea for a night of comedic storytelling on the theme “Food”. This month features funny stories revolving around the topic of food — from chain restaurants and celiac disease to ferments and family. The line-up features Amanda Feifer O’Brien, cookbook author, fermentation expert, and Philly food blogger. Joining Amanda, local writers Jared Axelrod and Mike Fenn, stand-up comedian Joe Messina, and West Chester Story Slam favorite Terry Heyman. The evening will also feature a story from writer/actor/food blogger Steven Gravelle who recently debuted a one-man storytelling and cooking show as part of the SoLow Festival. All tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door with cash or credit card. Doors are at 7pm, Stories at 7:30pm. For more info: check out TMAS on Facebook and Twitter.
